    '66 Power Brake Pedal

I've converted my '66 Roadster to power brakes and I have two questions:

There is quite a range of adjustment possible where the clevis threads on to the booster pushrod, which means the resulting pedal height can vary a lot. I'm thinking there should be a pedal height specification but have been unable to find one. I'd like to get this right so the brakes work properly and I don't have to take the pedal assembly out again. Does anyone know the pedal height spec, or can anyone with a power brake '66 give me a measurement so I know what works?

Also, I have been told (but cannot verify) that original power brake cars do not have a return spring at the pedal pivot. Since mine was originally a manual brake car, the spring is still installed. A Corvette brake vendor told me leaving it in place wouldn't affect anything, but I welcome any of your opinions. I am concerned about the brakes functioning properly, not originality.

    Mike -

The front face (foot side) of the pedal should be 5" from the floor; see section J50, sheet A3 in your assembly manual. The manual brake return spring won't interfere with power brake operation.

      Thanks John,

I must have looked at that page dozens of times but for some reason didn't see it. Maybe because the arrow in the illustration indicating where to measure from the firewall (at least on my manual) is so hard to see? Also, I'm assuming that the measurement is from the fiberglass panel and not the carpet? The book says 5.00 +/- .25" so I guess I have some leeway. Thanks again.
