After a false start with wrong pipe sizes, I have pretty much assembled the parts to get the exhaust system on my 1967 327/300 with Powerglide back to stock condition this spring. I am getting rid of chambered pipes, Midas mufflers, etc. (a real hybrid) and going with Corvette Central parts in the 2" configuration. But I overlooked the center hanger (for 2") near the transmission. When I punched in the part number on-line a note came up saying this hanger is for a manual transmission car. Is that so? And if yes, what secures the pipes in that area for a Powerglide-equipped car?

Re: Addendum
To prevent yet another mistake, I would try to find somebody who has already installed the 2" auto pipes from CC. Reason - I tried the 2 1/2 for the front 2 pipes and guess what, the drivers side was wrong. Even sent them a photo of the GM part beside thier's - but its in the computer and can not be wrong! Since then have found a drivers side GM pipe and it fits perfect!
So buyer beware. P.S. other members have had similar trouble and not just with CC so I'm not picking on them.- Top

Re: Addendum
Alan,
That was one of initial mistakes as well. I thought 2 1/2" pipes (bigger is better?) would be nice. But no C2 Corvette with Powerglide ever came with 2 1/2" pipes. Perhaps that is what you ran into as well? I will take a pic of the CC 2" Powerglide pipes and post.- Top

Re: 1967 Exhaust Pipe Center Hanger

Makes not one whit of difference whether the car has Powerglide or a manual transmission; the "ears" on the bracket which locate the pipes cross-car are in EXACTLY the same place with either transmission, as the pipes are centered in the tubular holes in the crossmember, which is the same on all cars. The only difference between the two brackets is the curvature of the "ears" to match the radius of the O.D. of the pipes, and the "ears" are 1/4" higher (relative to the ground) on the bracket for the 2-1/2" pipes than they are on the bracket for the 2" pipes so both pipes are centered vertically in the crossmember holes.- Top

Re: 1967 Exhaust Pipe Center Hanger
Thanks John. I will order that part this weekend. As well as the heatshields that I forgot as well. I very much appreciate the help here from people who know so much more than I do. BTW, the pic shows the chambered system that came with the car in 2003. Much too loud. Those chambered pipes were in 2005 connected to 2 1/2" Midas Turbo mufflers at the back as a compromise. But I have never been happy with the exhaust setup and now want to do it right. Hence my naive questions. The very limited production in 1967 of the Powerglide does seem to raise parts issues in a number of ways. I ran into that two years ago with carb and kick-down rods.
Many thanks for your help!
