    Re: Terry 72?

Glass codes -- LY = March 1972 JY = May 1972 It has been a long time since I judged exterior, but IIRC the glass limit is one year before, but of course not newer than, the date on the trim tag. From that you should be able to figure it out. If I have the glass date limits wrong, someone on here will straighten me out. If one of these is too new for your car, just live with it. At this point there is nothing you can do about it. Every car has a story – yours has several, and this is just another story. Folks who like original Corvettes also like stories.

Spare date 192 = 19th week of 1972 the rest is the manufacturer's code for the style of tire and the plant it was made. I think that information is on-line someplace. If it interests you let your keyboard do the looking.

I think the 14 in the circle is one of the five known wheel weight suppliers, per a story in The Restorer from about a year or a little more ago. If the right people on this board see your post, they will comment on the wheel weight issue.

Air filter -- AC329CW is what you need and is not that different than AC329C -- the ending W stands for oil wetted, which is what the original filter in your car was. The AC212CW is for the open element air cleaner, which doesn't apply to your car. A more careful read of the JM will confirm that.

Spark plug wires. Look carefully at the date -- it is 2Q-72 = second quarter of 1972. I would be a little surprised if all the wires have the same date, but that might happen. Yes, they are likely the ones the UAW installed at St. Louis in 1972. Be careful with them. Packard Electric never intended them to last this long. Right Bill??

I would want to look at the trim rings before commenting. It is possible to make them too shinny. Remember for the brass ring for originality the car has to flow -- that is all the parts need to look like they are the same age. Anything too new, too good, too fresh will stick out and attract unwanted attention. On the other hand I don't think original 1972 trim rings are falling from the sky. Whatever has been done to them, live with it. They are the ones that came with the car, and that counts the most.

        Re: Terry 72?

They are called "Jesus clips" because that is what you say when they go flying across the garage as you are trying to install them. There are some on the carburetor as well.

I asked about the dates on the plug wires out of curiosity. There is no need for you to go look at the rest of the wires. I’ll get my own chance. The reference to Bill is a note to another poster on this board with whom I have had some debates over the dating of spark plug wires.

CRC SP350 – check with the manufacturer for a source. Google is your friend. I doubt you will have enough time for it to dry properly before the end of June. We will be having fun in the summer sun before we know it.

Sorry no spread sheet. That is too high tech for me. I can barely manage this post.

You don't need the plastic door protector(s), in most cases it was removed during normal dealer new car prep, so most judges are not looking for it. I have a box full of them in the garage (none for sale). I hope you got the white ones, and not the black ones.

If most of the paint is there on the frame (one hopes not on the fiberglass), I hope you cleaned it carefully.

Your first post got a lot of reads because there are lots of Terrys posting here -- I think I counted five in the profiles section. More than I would have expected. So many that at times it is confusing figuring out who is referred to.

That said, this is a public forum and anyone can read what is posted.
