Installing what I was lead to believe is a correct 6 cylinder engine into a 54 vette. Everything went fine until the oil pan sits on the steering arms instead of the motor mounts. It appears that the 6 cylinder corvette has a special oil pan. Has anyone modified a passanger car oil pan to fit the corvette. If yes what do I need to do. Can it just be heated and dented in to accomidate the steering arms. Any pictures of what the correct pan looks like. Where might one get a correct pan. Any help would be appreciated.
Ted
The 53-54 Corvette oil pans are unique. I don't know if you can modify a passenger car pan.
You can try Grossmuellers or Mary Jo (VetteGal) to see if they have a Corvette oil pan in stock. Grossmuellers list a repro at $250 and an original at $375 in their catalog. Or you can wait for one to pop up on ebay. I see maybe 1 a year come up.
A pic of my 54 oil pan is attached below. Send me an email if you need different angles.
