    C2 Tach needle" zeroing"?

I guess I'm pulling the instument panel again as I now noticed the tach needle has slipped about -400 rpm range below zero after test firing (in addition to faulty repro temp. gauge). When out, I did not remove the needle but did move it some when cleaning the face. I was very careful to zero it by holding the shaft & clocking exactly. I double checked by spinning by hand before closing up and it was good.

Searched the archives and didn't find anything other than needle removal advice. Any advice on getting this right? (no tach issues before removal)
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob,
I replaced the tach face on my car and was very nervous during the whole operation. The needle had to come off and when I put it back on it wasn't on zero so I rotated it all the way clockwise, I think past the max and then let it go. After a few trys I got it to zero. Very nerve wracking. About four years ago, so I can't remember the details exactly. It's a 67.

Thanks John. I'm going to give it a go with clockwise & pushing down - after all the work I've done it would drive me crazy not to get it right. It was not a pleasent feeling after being so careful, testing & then putting the column back in - had to walk away for a while...
