I am restoring an original 61 which has a correct wonderbar radio, original antenna and capacitors installed. It does not have radio ground straps or the holes drilled in the trunk for the antenna mount or for the strap to exit the trunk floor the dimples are still intact. Is this possibly an original radio delete car with a dealer installed radio?

Re: 1961 radio
On the inner fender, is there a small dimple where the L-shaped bracket that would secure the antenna to the inner fender would be? That is generally the most significant tip-off. My recollection is that there is no specific hole drilled for the strap to go to the body mount--that relief in the trunk floor was a part of the manufacturing process if I recall correctly. Is there any sign of ground straps having been there? Look at the accelerator arm--the small hole for the ground strap screw. Does it have evidence of a screw having been threaded into it or not? The subtleties are what will tell you if it was or was not. (same screw thread issue on the right hand upper shielding bracket where the capacitor would have been mounted.)
Good luck--look hard for those kinds of telltale signs.
