    1959 dual quads

in trying to determine the correct casting codes on 1959 270 h.p. dual quads. i believe the tops are 6-1299 but how can you tell if the bases and center bodies are correct? how do you differentiate between long counterweights and short?

Yes, the air horns (tops) of both carbs should be 6-1299. The float bowl (main body) should be either 0-049 or 0-1049. The throttle bodies (bases) MAY be marked 1-1485S, front, and 1-1488S, rear.

Long or short counterweights? I can't help.

The distance from the end of the weight to end of the shaft is 1 21/32 inch on the "long" version. The short version is 1 13/32 fron the end of the weight to the end of the lever. This is all in the judgin Guide, a very handy reference to have...
