    Wheel Paint

I finally found the correct dated wheel for my car. It was on the LF covered in many layers of Walmart silver. I want to strip, beadblast, etc and repaint, basically restore it and use it as my spare.

Who has the best paint and any helps on restoring the wheel is appreciated.

Not that easy. It has to be the right shade, color etc. for judging. It is a 1969.

Pro Products RALLEY WHEEL PAINT matches well....920 743 1575. A lot of restorations shops carry their paint, but cover it with their own labels.

            Hi Erv:

This topic has been discussed previously if you check the archives. You will see that there are many opinions and many options.

It is my understanding that in 1969, the "Argent Silver" used by GM had a slight greenish tint that is not duplicated in any of the rattle can offerings from the various Corvette parts suppliers. Some people have successfully mixed their own, using various methods discussed in the archives.

Alternatively, you can buy the correct "green-silver" version from OEM Paints (760-747-2100), product number 11025. The only problem with OEM paints is that they are expensive.

When you paint your wheel(s) for judging, be sure to duplicate the factory appearance on the back too. I'm not sure about 1969, but in 1967 the wheels were first dipped in a semi-gloss black paint, then the front was sprayed with silver, with overspray coming through the holes.
