Re: A K Herman Munster
It can also depend on WHO installed the seat covers/foam on the seat frames. Most local installers may think they know how a finished Covette seat cover/foam should fit when installed but they do not.
Post a picture of your seats and you will get much better direction as to whehter the covers/foam was properly installed or not.- Top

Re: A K Herman Munster
Wear glasses and carry toothpicks for the bugs. When I bought my '61 years ago, I had to turn my thigh sideways to get it under the steering wheel and cock my head to the side like a Lear Jet pilot to fit in it with the top up. I figured I would drive it with the top off most of the time anyway. After 22 years, it is sitting much lower now.

Re: A K Herman Munster
Jim,
I just encountered the same thing and this is really bugging me @ 5'11. My seat installer is a corvette owner himself and has been doing these since new and the AK foam was driving him crazy. It is too thick/firm. I am trying to figure out what to do or just deal with it. Easter weekend was first time on road w/ new interior & definitely dif. than before!!

Re: A K Herman Munster
I agree....It won't pass judging either. I had my AK seats "unstuffed" twice before it would pass. Now the only thing between my butt and the springs is a thin piece about a half inch thick. It now "looks good!" according to the judge.- Top

Re: A K Herman Munster
Jim,
I re-did my 67 seats a few years ago with new covers and foam, from I think CC, not AK. After almost pulling my shoulder out trying to fit the bottoms into the new foam, I gave up. Just couldn't make that stretch.
I wound up reusing the original foam and augmenting it with 3/8" camping pad foam from the local hardware store. Cut it up and glued it to the original foam in just the right places.
Came out rather nice and passed judging.

Re: munster - good C2 seat foam source?
I have thought about this hard since weekend and had come to the conclusion that I was going to remove material from the bottom or augment original as above. My Problem w/ orig is that (as expected) driver side is bad and pass is excellent. I was told that there is one company out there that is repro'ing these close to dead on for both foam compression & fit...
Anyone know whose C2 seat foam is good?(straight out of the box)- Top

Bob,
One thing to think about is that once they are stretched out, you may be stuck.
Although maybe they will shrink with some heat like the tops.

Re: munster - good C2 seat foam source?
Bob,
I was thinking about vinyl. Might not make a difference with fresh leather. maybe you can tighten it from the underside.
On my vinyl seats and original pads, all I did was put the camping pad foam(it is much softer that the new foam) around the outside top and sides.
