    C1 Tachometer Noise

    Hi all,

I am vainly imagining going for Duntov, but my tachometer (rebuilt by a well-known specialist) is now installed and making the same rattle that it did before it ever came out of the car. This rattle or ticking sound increases in tempo with the RPMs.

I'm wondering if there is something I can do short of removing it from the car, such as WD in the rear (don't know if there is any place to get it in), etc. Any assistance appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bob

If you haven't already try cleaning and lube the cable. Rob

Somehow my response ended up standing alone instead of linked with the C1 Tach cable making noise thread. Anyway, make sure that the cable is not twisted causing it to act like a plumbers snake inside the steel casing. This will make the noise you described even if you have lubed it recently. One tang offset at one end can put it out of alignment. Undo one end, let it center itself and then reinsert carefully.
