    '55 question

Did the '55 have the stamped metal plate that holds the felt washer in place on the accelerator rod on the firewall? If so, was it installed on the interior or in the engine compartment?

    Wrong question if you mean

anything like mine. The throttle shaft on mine passed through a clean round hole, as seen from the engine side. On the interior side, there was a black, moulded cylindrical donut, with an ID similar to the hole in the firewall, glued to the firewall. On the pedal side of the donut, there was a thin membrane with a small hole in the center. No felt, no washer, nothing like that. 55 #518. I have not been able to find a matching replacement for mine, which had most of the thin membrane dryrotted, so I had to improvise.
