    "55" Spark Plug Wire Shielding

Can anyone out there tell me what the Spark Plug Wire Shielding looks like for a "55"
This would be the Shielding taking the braided wire down to the plugs. Anyone have pictures? How about you Roy? I remember a Thread that someone was going to make some temporary one's up.
    Thankyou,
    Karl

          Karl,

Unless you really need these wires for a judging, DONT put them on. Lots of work to do so correctly and they only last for a year then start breaking down. In my humble opinion they are not worth the effort let alone the cost. Put on a good set of over the counter wires they work well.

          Jack.

I believe Karl is asking about the metal brackets that bolt to the engine that the wies fit into, not the wires themselves... Karl, id that correct?

Re: "55" Spark Plug Wire Shielding

              Roy,
Are you and Jack referring to the Braided Wiring? I know, at least I think, that they're that way for Radio noise? What breaks them down besides the heat?
Isn't the shielding I'm asking about supposed to protect them as they pass down behind the heads and the exhaust manifolds? Isn't that what they're for? (Heat shields?)
              Karl.

                Mike,
                That's what I'm referring to.
It did open up some intresting imformation about what Roy and Jack have experienced. More Knowledge for others who are reading these Threads.

                Thanks Mike.

                  Roy.
Thanks for the picture of the Dist., Coil Ignition Shielding and the Braided Wires. Why is the valve lying there? Is it correct for a "55"?
Also, Lectric Limited ads (2) are on pages #28 and #33 in The NCRS Driveline

                  Thanks, Roy.

Re: "55" Spark Plug Wire Shielding

The plug wires shielding is for the radio static , the plug wire holder are to keep the wires off the exshaust pipes, the water valve you asking about is not a 55 the handle is wrong should be curved .

                        55 shielding

The brighter one is a replacement I made for one missing since the early 60's. The rest are original.

                          55 Spark Plug Wire Shielding

The chrome cans and braided coverings are for radio supression. The 55 wires are routed behind the heads, then below the manifolds.

                            To the contrary...

I made one to replace the long - lost wire cover, complete with the grounding eyes at each end, it'd pass anyone except a really[/] experienced 55 observer, like Roy. All the rest of my wires are the original braid coverings, only the wires inside have been replaced. Without the braid coverings the radio is useless, and you'll piss off people around you in traffic, too. The replacement braid cost me $2.70/foot. Either way, if the wires in the repro cables go bad, you can just replace them, re-using the braids for the next 50 years like I have.
