    1982 trim tag decode help

    C 06C 117309
    221 31L 31U E

I see 31 is the exterior - Blue

I can not find an interior code of 221, black book indicates 222 for dark blue.

Anyone know if this is a misptrint or is the trim tag wrong. I will note be near a JM for a few days...

    Thanks
    Ralph

    Ralph-----

I think that what you're interpreting as "221" is actually "22I", even if the last character is clearly a "1". For some reason that I do not understand "22I" (where the "I" appears as a straight, vertical line with no horizontal component at the bottom and no left side "backslash" at the top) is sometimes used as an alternate for the "222" code. However, as far as I know, the "222" or "22I" represents the same dark blue trim color.

          Ralph:

Clearly it's not a 1 since they have the underscore and the 1 in the 221 does not have an underscore. I tend to believe Joe's explanation with a substitute letter used due to limited space that the 222 would take up but of course all this is speculation. Your dilemma is "tell it to the NCRS judge" who is stating its not matching and I do understand that.

Team Leader Brian Pearce may offer more insights. More interesting is what the build sheet states which is quite available through the NCM...that would be documentation that any NCRS judge would be compelled to confirm a matching trim tag/interior color combo.

If you pursue this option...let us know your findings. I don't want to be that dumb nuts judge that has that "deer in the headlights look."

The "I" at the end of "22I" is a known substitution for "222", as well as for other '81-'82 leather trim codes, per the Pocket Spec Guide trim charts.
