    C3 Fan Spacer

My AIM calls for 1 or more spacers between the water pump hub and pulley: GM3740523. No other specs. Is this a "try it until the pulleys align" or is there some other reason for it (them)? If I can't find a repro/replacement, will 5/8 flat washers suffice? Any insight or info is, as always, deeply appreciated. I CANNOT believe I am having so much trouble with a fan assembly!! just part of the fun...Thanks and regards...Joe

    Joe-----

How you deduced that it works is how it works---add spacers between pulley and waterpump hub until you achieve proper pulley alignment.

The GM spacers are discontinued. However, you can obtain spacer kits (3 different shim thicknesses per kit) as manufactured by Moroso and others. Or, you can make up spacers from sheets of brass shim stock. DO NOT use washers.

YOU ARE THE MAN! I will track them down, and especially thanks for the warning about the washer. I thought I found it at Paragon, but their description of the application was not what I needed...Thanks again...regards...Joe

PS: it looks like the spacers are drilled for the fan studs?..jt

Summit (pt # MRG-6129) or Jeg's (#720-6129) has them by Mr. Gasket. About $6.00
        kit of three (2) 1/16" and (1) 1/8"

Erich: Thanks and I got found them! Funny the Moroso part shows up at both Jeg's and summit, but I couldn't find it on the Moroso site/catalog. Thanks again to all. On to my next adventure in restoration/repair.
