Re: dick, what this gettin old s--t "WE ARE OLD"

Speak fer ya self Clem. I refuse to grow up. But then again I remember when Richard Petty drove his first race at Columbia, I was there. And the old Charlotte Speedway off Wilkinson Blvd. I went to the last race there in 1960, also Hillsboro, Alcoa, Augusta, Savannah, Islip, Trenton, South Boston, Greenville Pickens, the beach at Daytona, all the good old short tracks. Darlington was THE superspeedway.

      Re: restrictor plates?

Talledega was one my favorite places to go to a race back before restrictor plates. It is one of the plate tracks because of the speeds generated. In the late 1980s, Bobby Allison's car went airborne, took out a section of fence, and almost went into the grandstand.

Noise is not a problem there because of the size of the track, but do take some hearing proteciton to Bristol or Martinsville.

dick i said it is OK to grow old but you do not have to grow up. it was different back then as we drove 2 1955 chevys to darlington, race them and drove them back to PA. did that up to 1957 when we drove to the beach race at daytona with a 57 FI chevy, quailified 12th,burnt a piston, towed to smokeys, installed a new piston and drove the car back to PA. a lot of good old NASCAR stuff goto www.racing-reference.info. put in any drivers name and you will get his record in NASCAR

Kenny...don't forget to take binoculars. I have been to Talledega, but it's got be as hard to see the back stretch as Daytona

              Re: Coolers?

Is there still a size restriction for a cooler printed on the tickets?

When the fans are standing, which seem most of the time, can you still see the track????

Re: the little foam roll ups work very well

I used to use ear buds in my scanner and then threw on my old head phones.

Then wifey got me a metal detector with head phones that (wouldn't you know it)just happen to plug right into the ole scanner.

No more ear buds falling out every time I stand up
