Re: C4 Engine ID Codes and Build Sheet Dates
Sky-----
The sequence stamped on the block beginning with "V" is the ENGINE CODE. It was stamped on the block at the Flint Engine plant. In this case, it decodes as follows:
V= Flint Engine
0422= April 22
ZVB= 1993 LT1 with manual transmission
There's no way that a car built on April 19 could have had an engine built on April 22. I strongly suspect that the car was built later than April 19, but I don't know the reason for the discrepancy on the build sheet.
The "327" that you have observed on the side of the block represents the last 3 digits of the block casting number. The full number was 10125327. This block casting was used for all 1992-97 LT1 engines as well as 1996 LT4.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C4 Engine ID Codes and Build Sheet Dates
Mystery solved! I spoke to the Corvette Museum. The date on the build sheet, 4/19/03, is the date the car is logged into the computer as ordered. The car comes off the line about 7-10 days later. It all makes sense now.- Top
