I layed out my NIB Al Knoch carpet in my rear compartment of my 65 Convertible. The pieces that fit over the wheelwells fit like crap. What's the trick? Did anyone else have a problem in this area? Thanks DG

There is no trick just alot of fit and refit, it is lousy carpet ,you will have to fight it but you can get it to look pretty good, use a good glue to keep it in place when you go along. jim.JR- Top

Dick,
Yes you are not alone. The wheelwell pieces seemed oversized to me. I think one critical point is where the front wheelwell piece has to overlap the piece on the luggage stop.
I also had a problem with too much carpet behind the gas pedal. See archives for my photo about a month ago. Good luck

Re: Al Knoch carpet fit over rear wheelwells
Dick,
I wont coment on Al Knoch's quality but I will say I recently installed carpet in the rear of my convertible and I had to use steam to get the pieces to fit properly. I used the Jiffy Steamer (Model J4000) which I bought online for about $200; you can probably rent one locally for a lot less. The key to using it is getting the carpet nice and hot, then shape it by holding it in place until it cools. I was surprised how well the job looked when I finished! If I wasn't close to retirement I would change my profession to installing carpet in auto's. It really was easy and fun after you get the hang of it; just be patient.
Good luck.- Top

Re: Al Knoch carpet fit over rear wheelwells
The only thing I know for sure about Al Knoch is if you have a question or a problem don't hold your breath for a return phone call or an e-mail ...I HAVE CALLED TWICE AND E-MAILED TWICE, NO RESPONSE.. The service after the sale sucks.. I will think twice before I buy any thing else from them...I just put in an ACC carpet set that fit quite well..Tom- Top
