Under the seats is a thin pcs of metal with wires. mine are gone.Does both seats get them or just the passenger side. On the drivers side the wires go to the seat belt retractor

      Lyle,

He's probably asking about a '72 model year.

Depends when in model year 1972. For the seat belt alarm system early 1972 Corvettes (built in calendar year 1971) are different than later model year 1972.

Denny, those switches are for the seatbelt warning system. I believe the warning light/buzzer started with January production 1972 cars and all 73's. All those switches do is let the system know someone is sitting in the passenger seat, and the system will buzz and light the dash bulb until the seatbelt is fastened.

It is a 1972 at the very end of production only 300 more made.On the drivers side the wires go to the seat belt retractor also under the drivers seat is that thin pcs of metal. On the pass side under the seat is no metal but has a wire comming out of the black plastic cover. So I should take the metal one from the drivers side and put on the pass side and check for alarm.

            I can breath today!

With a late 72 I would look at the wiring harness under both seats and check for a place to plug in the switch if the wireing is original you will know how many you need. If you have a wire coming from under the plastic cover I would say for sure that will plug into the switch. The switches that usally don't work are in the retractor.
