    69 frame date question

I need to pick a date for my frame and could use some help. I talked to Debbie at Doc Rebuild today and she says that it should be two to six weeks prior to my body build date which is Jan 31/69. Where I need the help is in picking a day that wasn't a holiday or weekend or any other day that for some reason would make the date look wrong.

I was thinking Dec 30-68 but I'm not sure if that was a work day or not. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Greg Linton

    Re: 69 frame date question

Debbie gave you good info...my 70 frame is date 6/24/70 and the car build date was July 30. December 30, 1968 was a Monday; Monday should be pretty safe as a work day if there were no strikes in progress and/or no holiday shutdown period taken. Others will have to help with 69 strikes and holiday shutdowns.

I would probably opt for something before Christmas or after New Years. January 6, 1969 was a Monday.

Thanks Chuck. Dec 30 has some meaning for me so that's why I picked that one. I'll try and see if that was in fact a working day but if it wasn't I'll go with Jan 6.

        Re: 69 frame date question

Greg, for what it's worth, I checked Joe Tripoli's Corvette Chassis Restoration Guide on the chance that he may have included information on 69 frames dated during January, 1969. Sure enough, he has information on a 69 frame dated January 10, 1969: First Line, 3973880-65; Second Line: 1.10.69. This stencil would be for an early manual transmission car from the part number and the 65 suffix.

Now, you at least know that January 10, 1969 was a work day.
