    Bench Test Clock

I had my clock rebuilt for my 69. I pulled the console reinstalled and the clock does not work!!!!!!!!

The fuse that supplies the clock also supplies the courtesy lights and cig lighter, they all work.

What is the movement of the clock. And how can I bench test it?

I don't know what you mean by "what is the movement of the clock".

You can bench test the clock by hooking it up to a 12V DC power source. This could be a 12V battery or, even, an adapter/transformer that outputs 12V DC current.

First prove to yourself that you have 12 volt + to the clock lug as well as a good ground to the clock carcass.

I am not sure of the movement in your year but earlier versions used a traditional gear/catchment movement. There is an electromagnet and momentary contact switch that works to periodically to rewind the main spring. That's what the power is needed for as the rest of the clockworks were just like an old wind up clock. Sometimes a side-to-side shake helps to jumpstart the works.

Make sure it is grounded. You can test it by using a battery charger. Put the positive lead on the terminal and the ground on the frame of the clock. That has worked for me. Terry

Once you have assured 12volts and good ground pull stem out and twist a few times, rap the clock a little, if it still doesnot start - remove and shack.
Just went through the same problem (64 clock)even sent back however it still does not work if power is shut off. Once shacken it runs till power is shut off again, then I need to shack it again.

Have installed a fuse across my shut off, using a 3Amp.
