61, 62 instruction labels

Anybody have original instruction label on their 61 or 62 trunk spare tire board to take measurements of the label sizes. I would like the caution and jack instructions both paper size and graphics size or margin in from edges.

Are 61, 62 labels supposed to be different size from earlier 60?

I have two jacking instructions for 60 and older car but they both measure different. One 6.5 x 10 and other 6 x 10. Both bigger than stated in the artical in the Restorer.

If I'm gonna put labels on the board I prefer to have them sized correctly. Any body repro them correct for 61, 62?

I thought I saw an article about the labels and size differences in a recent Restorer issue. I'm not close to mine at the moment but I could check tonight if you don't find it.

The restorer artical covers the 60 on back labels. There were no references to 61-62 specificly. I have a feeling they are different but no facts to back it up. By the way that artical was very well done.

Hi Gene,

Didn't realize that. So I just checked Nolands Vol 1 book and pg353 shows a picture of a 61 trunk board, and 354 shows the AIM. Both are different locations so I'd say it was random placement. The actual size of the labels will need someone else to verify with the real thing.

Gene, the tire board label was carefully removed from my '61, but the location and size is still visable. It was located to the left of center at about midpoint and it was not set down very carefully. The size measures 6" x 9 1/2".
Not per the AIM.

If you know where to get good replacements, let me know.

Gene, Pictures of the trunk tire board are from a late May 1961. The JG list the board as 5 ply 3/8" thick plywood. There is some delamination of veneers, but where the board is sound, I measure 7/16" +or-. This would make it 1/2" sanded two sides plywood. Could others please measure the trunk boards for the 61-62 model year and confirm the exact thickness of the plywood. Note the date on the CAUTION lable. 7-22-53

Ray, Measured my '61 at 2 "solid" locations and come up with 3/8" thickness while some other areas have expanded to about 7/16". Can you give us the size of the jack instructions? Mine comes in at 6 X 9 1/2.
