    63 Replacement fuel sender ??

I purchased a replacement fuel sender for my 63 today and attempted to install it tonight. I went for the high dollar "made in USA" model. I discovered that the terminals on the original are of different diameters matching the wiring harness but the replacement one has two terminals of the same (large diameter) size. Thisd makes engaging the green wire impossible.
Have others encountered this? or did I just get a mistaken one? Is there a better repo?? I had figured this would be more accurate than the imported one but, now I wonder.

    Bill-----

I'm assuming that you're talking about the Delco replacement. If it's another USA-manufactured unit it's probably of the same source as the Delco but I don't know that for sure. The Delco unit is absolutely the best thing out there today. However, it's possible that it's changed in minor ways over the years and the difference you describe could be one of those changes.

The Delco units used to be internally manufactured by the AC Division of GM. However, I don't even think that they're manufactured by DELPHI anymore. These sort of manufacturing changes often "beget other changes". Still, as I say, it's as good as you're going to get.

I bought the Delco unit about two years ago from Paragon and I believe the two terminals were the correct sizes (one larger than the other). It installed just fine.

It is possible that the one you have was manufactured incorrectly.

Thank you guys, I called the vendor and he believed the correct configuaration is with different sizes, but he didn't have another unit in stock to compare. Soooo it's off to the awap meet tomorrow to search for another back up plan.

I believe that the sender sold by Corvette Central is a reasonable option. It is constructed the same way as the original (unlike some of the other versions I have seen), although it does not have the same markings as the original.

            Bill -

Corvette Central's reproduction sending unit is made by Fargo Automotive, and has the correct terminal pin configuration - the "S" terminal is larger in diameter than the "I" terminal, as original; they're also attached with hex nuts and fiber seals as original, not with speed nuts like some of the other repros (that leak). The "S" and "I" aren't stamped on the plate, but otherwise the Fargo unit is pretty much identical to the AC sending unit.

Thanks John, that may be what I have, as I noticed the stamping missing, it may just be a misbuild. Thanks for the insight.
