Whats a body worth?

I would like to get a complete bare body of a 70-72 coupe that is in good shape. Is that something that would be terribly expensive or hard to find?

Bodys have always been hard to find. Typically you you could find wrecked stuff, but most people can do the mechanicals , so good ones got repaired.

Thats realy too bad. I found a LS5 with a good everything but the body. I would have to piece a new front end and a complete - from the front of the doors on back including the rear end. I just figure I would be better off replacing the whole body. Guess I can try some scrap yards.

Are you saying the entire body is torn up? That is odd, usually the front end is smashed but the tail is intact.

It is common to find bodies on eBay, however, not the entire body. Usually rear clips with passenger section and then front ends.

It will be time-consuming to find bodies, as they are not just everywhere. Good luck.

There was a 72 coupe body on ebay in the past two months. Didn't actually go that high--I was surprised that it was quite affordable. I think what I would do is look for a car that has a rusted frame that would sell pretty reasonably. You then can part out what you need and recoup a portion of the cost, and minimize the number of hours on the bodywork side.

I bought a 71 body last year and hope to remove the nose and place it on my 71 to fix the deer suicide damage. The rear from the firewall rearward will be left, but only in fair condition. This one too was a big block car that was parted out because the frame and birdcage were too rusted, so similar to what your project car is now.

I don't think that finding a complete body with good birdcage will be that easy unless you sacrifice another car.

The whole car has horrible modifications done to it. Other than the doors and the hood, everything else needs to be redone. They even screwed up the area behind the seats. Grafted on an Eklers kit to make the rear area a fastback.
