I've got a problem with the alarm in my 72 that I can't quite figure out. The alarm works like it's supposed to (arm it and open a door or the hood and it sounds) except that instead of the horn blowing like a horn, all I hear is clicking through the horn (so I guess the flasher works). It's trying to sound but it seems like it's not getting enough power to drive the horn. Sometimes the horn will sound but not often and not for very long (three or times and then it's back to the clicking). Here's what I've done so far:
- charged the battery to a full charge
- rebuilt the horn
- tested the horn and it works perfectly
- installed a new alarm switch
- removed the paint on the horn where the ground wire attaches
- replaced the ground wire and power wire connectors
- removed the connectors on the flasher and the relay and reinstalled them
- replaced the flasher with a new flasher from GM (part #491391)
The only thing I haven't changed at this point is the relay. Does this sound like a relay problem and if so is a replacement available from GM?
Thanks for any help.
