    Wonderbar Radio

Are there any diferances between the radio for a 1962 corvette and one for an earlier year such as the spacing between the knobs?
    Thanks

No--on the3 spacing, yes on the rest. 61-62 have knobs with a finger indent--58-60 knobs are rectangular without the indent. 61 radios have the aluminum cylinder ("can") on the left side of the radio, (and it could interfere with the cowl vent mechanism), 62 radios had the can on the back.

Did all 62 radios have the "can" in back? I always thought early 62's were carry overs from 61.

Very early 62's were carry-over from 61--you're right, Terry!

The 'Can' that's referenced is a 3-stage electrolytic capacitor, PN 7273775. It was located on the LH side of the radio chassis through '61E and moved to the rear of the chassis for '61L and '62 Wonderbar sets.

Its original position was such that the cowl vent actuator could rub against the capacitor can (if the cowl linkage wasn't 'perfectly' adjusted) and eventually 'saw' through the can resulting in damage/failure of the capacitor...

Thanks Mike, I thought maybe my senile old mind was slipping there for a minute.
