If you're talking about a 1963 340 hp, then I believe it was a stud and nut. If you're talking about a 1962 340 hp, I have no idea.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: water pump bolts
Nancy, I just went to my garage and checked my freshly restored Feb 11th build FI engine and see that is has a TR bolt (unpainted) and split lock washer holding the alternator bracket to the water pump. The other three TR bolts are orange for sure. My mentor-Michael Hanson wrote in to me tonight and stated that it should be a bolt and NOT a stud. I am not 100% sure if this particular bolt and washer are plated or painted. But I am sure Michael will email me with the answer. 340 and 360 hp should be the same since they are identical engines except for the fuel system. John D.- Top

Re: water pump bolts
Nancy and others, Did you know that the 63 alternator brace (hockey stick) is unique to 63? It's much thinner than the later ones. Easy way to spot them is that there is a V stamped in the brace or bracket as you say. The V is very close to the slotted end. V is stamped at an angle. Hard item to find as they were very flimsy and easily bent. John D.- Top

Re: water pump bolts
Nancy, Do not paint the bolt and washer-split lock washer. Just leave it cad or zinc. The other three bolts that hold the pump on are painted for sure. Don't forget to put a lot of overspray on the bypass hose and clamps. Refer to the archives for nice pics of this hose from MH.
Your triple black car sounds really nice. Mine is white on red.
