from outboard on the pad to inboard: vin derivative then the machine asswebly data. never seen an original where the vin/mach data was stamped on top of one another.cast date of case typically couple days to couple weeks prior to machine assembly data date. mike
Thanks Mike. I thought so. My '59 has a '61 283 3756519 block in it and they're also as you described. I wasn't sure if the 327 was different or not.
So while I'm thinking about it, I've never had my car judged at a regional. I've owned it 21 years(NCRS member about that long) and always used the NCRS spec as my bible(I won't even buy radial tires for it). I've been thinking about it. Should I consider it, even though it's not the original block? I feel a bit embarrassed asking but I really would like to know where the rest of the car stands.
I suggest you take it to a local chapter judging meet. It is a good way of getting the car judged and will give you a good indication of what to work on.
Don't be embarrassed!!!My first NCRS meet (1977) I took my first 62 (steel city gray with red shag carpet) through judging. Learned a LOT!!!!!! Helped me get to where I am today (one who has owned 28 62's, and still learns much about them every year)
if you were a red head, you could use the shag carpet for yer thinning chrome dome. still owe ya for the 30 chev roadster pickup you were instramental in living at the Cumberland funny farm. mikie
