I just recently purchased a '74 Corvette. Everything has been fine with it for the first 2 months I have owned it until yesterday when it wouldn't start. After taking 1/2 hour to find the battery, I jumped it and it started. After driving it around a while I came home, turned it off and noticed that the interior light would not shut off. I tried the light switch again and again and nothing happened. Finally I disconected the battery and left it at that. What do you think the problem is? Loose wire?

The interior lights are controlled by 3 switches:
Headlight switch
Left door jamb switch activated by opening the left door
Right door jamb switch activated by opening the right door.
A failure of any one switch can result in the interior lights staying on.
Connect the battery and open the left door and locate the door jamb switch near the door hinge area. Manually press the switch in as far as possible. If the lights go off, this switch is not breaking contact when the door is closed. If the lights stay on repeat the procedure with the other door jamb switch with the right door open and the left door closed. If the lights stay on, the next most likely problem is the headlight switch. As you probably know, rotating the headlight switch knob clockwise should dim the cluster lights. Is this feature working?
Next step would be looking for a grounded wire someplace.
