C2 FI Fuel Line - too long ?

The chrome fuel line that runs from the fuel pump up the front of block which than has a right angle connector to filter and is about 13.5" long.

Purchased a new repro one and it appears toooo long, about 3/8" to long.

Has anyone had the same problem with these for a 380 unit? (Mar 64 car)

Also noticed that unless one puts some tape at the top fitting the connector will slide down, however the original fitting will not since the tube has a minor bent in it on the original, but not the repro - that may be the extra 3/8"!

    Thanks Alan

Always used originals from GM on mine, not perfect, but more like 3/32 off than 3/8, well within the realm of "minor adjustment"

      fuel line

Are you using the stud to mount the filter? If not, the filter will be too low.

        Re: fuel line

Original line is 1/4" shorter - back to original line now!

Are these still available from GM ?? (should have checked first)

Bracket is on stud and now everything fits (all original lines)

        Thanks for help and

        Watch out for repro lines!

Alan, There are at least two versions of the 63 and 64-65 chrome fuel line. From the engine fuel pump to the 90 degree fitting on the fuel filter. One is a tad longer than the other as you well know.I believe the 64-65 line is longer and has a little different configuration. Repro parts books used to list two supply line sets. We ran into this problem with my 63. But a minor adjustment with a dead blow fixed the problem. I believe the 63 line is a tad shorter than the 64-65. Different fuel pumps and fittings are the issue. Maybe someone else can state this better with dimensions as I don't have any. The repro lines leave a lot to be desired. But the GM replacements aren't that great either. Sorta like the chrome balance tubes for the 63-65 that you see all over the flea markets and ebay. Aren't worth a crap because none of them fit. YOu have to heat them, bend them, grind them and swear at them. That's why I like the old originals. I believe the GM replacments are rejects from the assembly line. Have to be as they are a total loss. John
