    Need help with destination charge

I would appreciate any help with determining the destination charges for my 1965 corvette. It was originally purchased at Bernard Chevy-Olds, Inc. in Libertyville Illinois.

The total purchase price from the bill of sale was 5386.00 plus 106.80 sales tax. Have good docs but missing POP.

I am trying to back the price into the car by determining all of the options.

Here are the facts I know and would appreciate help filling in the options to add up to the total.

    Base Price Coupe: $4321.00
    425 h.p. $ 292.70
    posi $ 43.05
    transitor $ 75.35
    4 speed $ 188.30
    Teakwood $ 48.45
    AM/FM $ 203.40
    soft ray all windows 16.15
    Tires ??
    Off road Exhaust ??
    destination charge ??

The car has tinted winshield and windows but I was not sure how they were accounted for. The Tinted winshield only listed at $10.80. The original exhaust and tires are gone. The items I have listed total 5188.40 leaving a difference of 197.60. If I have the destination charges I could back into the tire and exhaust (off road) or not combinations. Would appreciate help and opinions.

    Thanks

    Keith

Re: Need help with destination charge

Keith, I have a 65 396 Coupe build date mid-June 65 - I have tons of documentation when I look at the car shipper form all the prices are as you mention. However, when I look at the window sticker I have it reads as follows:Coupe 4233.00,4Speed 184.30,tinted glaass(all windows)15.80,am/fm 199.05,Trans Ign. 73.70, Goldline tires 48.50, posi 42.10, 425 286.45. At the bottem of the sticker it says * based on reduced excise tax rate effectiveJune 22, 1965. The original owner lived near the border of Wisc. - however he picked the car up at the St. Louis Plant so I lack a destination charge all my paperwork reads 00.00. Good Luck.
PS - the car was ordered thru Ferris Bros. Chev & Buick, Harvard, Illinois.

Re: Need help with destination charge

      Keith -

The destination charge in 1965 depended on the actual distance and rail/truck routing from St. Louis to the delivering dealer; standardized outbound freight rates didn't start until the early 70's.
