    64 interior code ? HELP!

If the trim tag reads 491 R what would the color be? I am looking at one with white seats and trim with blue carpet. The trim tag reads 491 R so I am confused, I thought the R was for red! Help! Thanks in advance..Tom

The 491 is the Two-Tone. The possible combo could be white vinyl seats, white door trim, blue console, blue dash and blue rugs. Not sure why you only have one letter "R", would expect two letters starting with R. Assuming the car was made after 3/25/64. Also the codes are different for Coupe & Conv.

I understand that the Dow-Smith tags may have used only one letter. Look at the letter preceeding the body number, A is Dow-Smith while S is St. Louis.

There exists better people on the board who know all these details, hope they post soon, however just trying to get things going. If they post go with what they present.

Thank you for your response. It is a coupe by the way.
The tag reads as follows Top line -002 Detroit Mich.

      Style 837 A-428 body

      trim 491 R 912A paint
This is as the tag shows, I thought that the R was for Red. The window sticker shows blue and white interior. Thanks in advance. Tom

Re: 64 interior code ? HELP!

Hope the experts chime in before I make a mistake!!
The 912A is a Dow-Smith code for Silver Blue (StLouis would be 912AA) and the A-428 is also an indication of a Dow car. So appears it's a Dow car.

The ECL code after the 491 for a coupe starts with the letter "R" however the Dow cars only carried the first letter of the two letter alpha code, so the single "R" appears correct.

Now what's the -002 about, not what I would expect to see, however that may make it a more interesting car. See if you can send a picture to Grenning or Sinor
I'm just working with their book, "Authentication Library Vol 1."

The first digit of the "002" is a letter, not a number (probably "D02").
