Over sized valves??

Me and my questions..... So, is there any advantage to using slightly oversized valves. I have noticed this a couple times being referred to. Terry

some times it is necessary if the seats in

head are "sunk" too deep. for street engines it is not necessary to try and get more performance because it will hardly be noticeable

I went to a F-M parts site and was looking up parts. It seemed to direct me to mostly speed pro stuff. Prices are nice compared to some of the hot rod suppliers. Sort of shocking. Lots to choose from. Terry

You may be referring to oversize STEMS. In the past GM sold valves with .003" oversized stems along with a companion reamer for the valve guides. It was a quick way for dealer mechanics to restore guide clearance without sending the head to a machine shop.
