    C2 engine mount "split lock hex nut"?

    Hello experienced ones;
    Are the "split lock hex nuts" refered to in the JM a Marsden Nut.('67 page 95)
    Have what I think are the original 7/16 fine slotted (less than the width of a hack saw blade) 5/8 wrench nuts.
    Have also found a supplier for these nuts.
    Believe this applys to C1 at least through C3.
    Thank you for all your help.
    Ray
    P.S. Hope my occasionally answering questions on the discussion board is OK. Don't want to inject my thought if not welcome or if anyone thinks it's not wanted.
    And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance

    Ray--
    C1's did not use a Marsden nut (or "split lock hex nut") for motor mount nuts. What you are referring to would have to be post-62.

          Re: C2 engine mount "split lock hex nut"?

          Did all C2's use the Marsden type lock nut or were other locking type nuts used as well?

          I have what I believe are original motor mount fasteners and while the nuts are locking type, they are not the split or Marsden type. The JG states split nuts, but I wonder if more than one type were installed.

          Thanks,

          Mark

              Hi Ray,

              Don't be shy about posting information, if you know the answer to someone's question, by all means toss it out there.

              Hopefully someone with more experience than I will chime in regarding this issue.

              In the mean time, maybe you could tell us where you found these 'Marsden' nuts. I may need some!

              Best Regards,

              Mark

                Re: "split lock hex nut"? supplier-Mark.

                Hello Mark;

                "Ralph Roberts Classic Chevy" out of the Northwest.

                They are on the web with that name.

                Shouldn't admit this here, but we are also a '55 Nomad enthusiasts.

                I Know, less time to work on my Corvette, but confession is good for the soul.

                I'm on a business trip now, but I think the picture you posted looks like the through bolts from LI Corvette.

                Thanks for the help, Ray

                  Fine slotted nuts for mid years

                  The split nuts you refered to are correct for the mid years. The wrench size for the bolt is 5/8 the nut is 11/16. Phil 8063
