Hello. I tried doing a search but did not come up with any answers. I know the judging manual says parts that are to be natural in finish can not have any clear on them, but then how are we supposed to protect/preserve them from rust, tarnish or deterioration. Is there anything I can use? without losing points?
Thanx
Back when I restored my 1967 in 1994, I used (probably too many coats of) a product called "Coricone". Non of the judges asked about the protective coating. It did not color or change the sheen on natrual cast iron or steel parts such as the coli springs, however, as the years passed, it has become somewhat yellowed or tannish, whichever your eye discerns. It may be removed with a laquer thinner dampened rag. Exactly what happened to the company or which product replaces Coricone, I have yet to discover. I have been told that there are products available that accomp[lish the same results.
