On my '57 2x4 carbs a couple of the screws no longer tighten. The threads in the carb are stripped. They were that way when I bought the Corvette. What is the best way of correcting this, oversize screws? Permatex? I'm concerned with vacuum leaks.

Re: WCFB assembly screws
Not sure of what size you need to replace, however try a HeliCoil. These seem to require the smallest over size hole for the insert to get back to same size. You will need a kit which can run about $35-$45. Kit comes with a tap which is special, ie not in your tap/dye kit.- Top

Re: WCFB assembly screws
Thanks for the tips, Alan and Clem. I considered using heli coil method but normally it is necessary to drill the hole larger. There is not much material there to risk drilling larger diameter holes. The deeper hole idea may work better.- Top

Re: WCFB assembly screws
Art, Let me know what length screws you need. I have most every size 10-32 fillister screws made. In fact I had to have some of them made for FI's. Not trying to turn this forum into parts for sale. If you just need a few for the carb email me your address. No charge. Anyone else wants some-pay up. heeee. John D.- Top
