    63 First Gear Whine

When starting out in first and load is applied, there is a high pitched whine that increase in strength / pitch in sync with the speed of the car. The closest comparison is the whine that you hear when driving too fast in reverse, only this whine is more...painful. When coasting in first (no load) the whine sound disappears. This behavior started suddenly today and hasn't gone away. The other gears are fine, and I haven't noticed any problems shifting in/out of first, reverse, or any other gears. Any ideas? Thanks much,

    Seth
