I noticed that my one '74 has a return line to the fuel tank on the passanger side and my other '74 does not. The one with the return line is a base motor automatic and the one without the return line is a base motor 4speed. Both cars have had hard lives and I do not know if either has the original tank. Witch is correct or are they both right?
I'd expect both cars to have dual lines to the tank as only Rochester QJet carbs were used on all engines in 1974. From the '73-74 JG, Chassis, Fuel and Brake Line text:
"Fuel and brake lines should have no paint overspray, but may have some undercoat overspray in the wheelwell area. Corvettes hav a fuel return line running parallel to the fuel supply line on the passenger's side of the frame. The fuel line is 3/8" and the return line is 5/16"...."
Yes, fuel return lines were used for all 1974 Corvettes. The fuel return line connected on the engine end via rubber hose with the return line nipple on the long canister style fuel pump. All 1974's originally used a long-canister style fuel pump with fuel return line nipple.
