    C1 Early 1962 build differences?

In making up the parts list I need to restore 62 #483, I've come across more oddities.

-There is no paint warning sticker(or trace of it at all) in the center glovebox. Ideas why?

-The arm rests on this original interior were re-padded by someone, but are un-chromed plastic. Should all 62 armrests be chromed? Were these armrest used on other models besides Corvette?

-Also have noted numbers and date codes on engine items.
    Engine 3702870, H251, 2100483 F0828RC
    Head Rt - 3795896 H171 (Aug 17,61- 62 base, correct)
    Head Lt - 3774692 F261 (Jun 26,61- 60/61 base engine, incorrect?)
Is it possible that the 4692 was on a shelf and they used it instead of the 5896? What is the difference between the 2 heads? Both are pyramids.

-FYI, after some flat scraping with a wood chisel I found:
The Build Sheet# behind trunk panel lower center ("467" written upside down, light green crayon), and "IVORY" "HT"(in dark green crayon behind passenger seat)

    Thanks,
    Rich

I believe all arm rest were plastic chrome plated. It will wear/rub off. Many GM cars used this same arm rest, especially the Chevelle, Tempest, Cutlass, etc
I have no comments on the other items.

The car is 45 years old, unless you have owned the car since new, I would expect lots of things to be missing or wrong.

I doubt many cars still have he paint warning sticker

Agree with Wayne about the armrests.

The 692 head was used in 60 and 61 passenger and Corvette, anywhere from 230 horse up to 270. The 896 was used from 62 to 65, both pass and Corvette, low horse only.

The Ivory means the car was originally White and came with a Hardtop.
      Hope this helps
      Terry

        Rich,
I believe the #467 is usually called a job number and can often also be found on the firewall, under the instrument cluster and inside the doors. My #318 has a job number of 304 - a difference of 14. Interesting the difference in your serial # and job # is 16.

          Terry -

Ivory indicating 'white and hardtop' - This the first time I have heard this. What if there was no hardtop?

The number 467 you found written in green crayon is most likely the Job/Broadcast number that was written on the "Build Sheet" and sent to sub-assembly stations on the production line to prepare component assemblies to meet the main same numbered chassis on the assembly line. This is the first time I have heard of the J/B Number on the trunk panel of a '62. The usual locations I am aware of are on the inside surface of the speedometer dome, the engine side of the firewall between the dimmer switch and transmission tunnel, the inside panel of the passenger door under the trim panel, and the top of the dash beside the interior mirror base. All these numbers will be the same, between 1 & 500, written in green crayon, and no they will not match your VIN.

The word Ivory that you found written on the fiberglass panel in green crayon behind the passenger seat is the terminology used on the assembly line to represent Ermine White, the original color of the car. The inclusion of "HT" indicates that the car was to be Hard Top equipped.

Here's a picture of the area where I found the J/B number, just under the center reinforcement plate in light green crayon. Interesting it was written upside down. Also the passenger side seat panel with the color/ht ref in dark green.
