Yes my 67 had many dealer accessories installed I'll post later if you guys are interested.

"You C2-C3 guys having a dealer emergency kit...has a real dealer fire extinguisher instead of having an after market one that should loose points, when Gm sold the real deal..."
Hmmm...If I didn't know you better, Roy, I would suspect you were lobbying for extinguisher exclusivity to enhance the value of your emergency kit.
Actually, the whole point of giving out free judging points for presence of an extinguisher is to encourage owners to have one onboard THAT FUNCTIONS when needed. I'm not sure the presence of a forty-year-old extinguisher meets the spirit of that NCRS provision. Anyway, I know I wouldn't trust an extinguisher that old unless it had been recently inspected and recharged. It typically is not cost effective to recharge the small, cheaper extinguishers, and you're lucky if they even have a "green zone" gage or a "green pin" indicator.
I missed you for a few days, but I didn't know about your arm. I'm glad to hear your arm is getting better.- Top

Re: C2-C3 accessory guys 'Chuck"
I agree about them being old but why not judge the (real deal GM accessory) and you can still carry the newer one so NCRS don't get up set seeing a real GM one? This could be the vary first time NCRS could and should {recognize a GM dealer part}.the presence of a REAL "extinguisher dont meets the spirit of that NCRS provision"?? SAD!
To me it's sad that NCRS alowes an after market item and gives you extra points and yet turns their back on a real GM item. I've been accused of using the word Fanatics
When talking about NCRS but no longer now/ when they award points for a pep-boy parts'
Thanks it's slow but my arm is geting better!- Top

Re: C2-C3 accessory guys 'Chuck"
The distinction is that the two extinguishers are two entirely different concepts. One is a dealer supplied GM option, which are not normally judged; and the other is NCRS sanctioned, non-original safety item eligible for free judging points. It is, in fact, the authenticity of the emergency kit that makes it reasonable to assume the extinguisher is not likely to perform as a fire extinguisher when needed due to the elapsed time.
ALL dealer installed options receive deducts if they can not be removed from the car without leaving evidence. For an example, consider C3 dealer installed luggage racks...You don't lose judging points for the GM supplied option; you lose judging points for the mounting holes that weren't there when the car came from the factory.
Any item that wasn't in the car when it shipped from St. Louis had better be removed before the interior judges get there. Some judges won't ignore your Tic-Tacs, change, or even your dealer supplied/installed accessories inside. Some judges might buy that your emergency kit extinguisher meets the criteria for extra points, but I wouldn't unless it had an inspection tag signed off in the last year, or some indicator that showed extinguisher internal pressure was normal.
If one is going to have an extinguisher, it should WORK if needed IMO. But, that's just me.- Top

Re: C2-C3 accessory guys
Roy, I have several of these kits with various part numbers on the box(apparently the part number changed every few years based on the contents). Your picture shows both the Buss fuse brand box and the Gm logo fuse box. Any idea which is correct or are they interchangable? I assumed that the fuses were used frequently as replacements and the original GM box was thrown away and replaced with the Buss box; you don't often see the GM box at the swap meets but your photos may make the Buss fuses original items. Re: C2-C3 accessory guys 'Chuck"
First I wont to thank you for this discussion on this matter, vary few will as you will see.You said={ judges might buy that your emergency kit extinguisher meets the criteria for extra points }
Two different concepts= sanctioned or authenticity you say. Lets leave out that the original one is no good to depend on.
We know some people will pay stupid amount of money to install 50 year old original authenticity tires and have them judged to get higher points but would never drive on them so/ can we display the old but real authenticity extinguisher and have a pep-boys one on hand??
NCRS realizes they have to allow repro parts to be installed to keep our Corvettes running NOW after market items too??
Your mixed up on options & accessories=an option came from the factory= an accessory comes from a dealer!- Top

Re: C2-C3 accessory guys
Interesting you should ask ,you collect them? Any way the first design fuse box was brown or black in color having a large GM logo on the cover ,later GM was like you see, Buss was a out side supplier that most people recognize /
kits with various part numbers on the box(apparently the part number changed = that's correct as they added things to it.- Top

Re: C2-C3 accessory guys
Roy, I have several kits, fire extinguishers, recharge kits and hand held spot lights that I have picked up thru the years for various Corvettes. One fire extinguisher and one emergency kit have never been opened. I am always on the lookout for a correct compass. Regards, Kieran #11373- Top
