    C2 Door Hinge Switch

What is the best way (maybe the only way....) to remove the door hinge switches without damaging them? When viewed from the door jam area, there appears to be some type of lock nut holding the switch/plunger in place. Do you put a long socket on this nut, try to hold it from the inside of the fender, and loosen it?

Any experience here would be appreciated....

    Re: YES

Yes and be carefull of other end, its 12V. I disconnected first and taped. I had a discussion last year on installing it again, do a search on subject or my name to find out the method used - its very simple! A good GM design.

      Disconnect the battery....

The switch is threaded into the door jam... not accessible from the fender area.

Unscrew it and then the wire becomes accessible on the end of the switch.

To reinstall pull the switch "tube" out of the nut some. (Makes the switch longer). Reinstall it and close the door. It automatically sets itself to the proper length.
