1967-69 seats

I was hoping someone out there could help me identify some seats. I beleive them to be 1968 low back seats, but some people disagree. They are low back style, no headrest, I have pictures, so if someone is interested in having a look for me I would appreciate it.

Are your pictures on-line? If not, look first for a seat back release. 1967 had no back-latching mechanism. Early '68s had the release lever mounted low on the bottom left back. During the year, it was moved upward to make it more easily accessible. It was in that position for all of 1969. Are the covers original? If so, that will help identify them also.

1967 seats are very easy to distinguish from 68-69. The configuration of the mid-year seats is completely different from 68+. Even if you have just the seat frames, the 68+ seat back frames have considerable curvature to them. The 67 style are nearly "flat".

All 1969 seats have provisions for headrests. Most 1968s do not, except for those cars with the headrest option, which is just a little more than 10% of the cars built.

Pictures of these seats can be found in many of the Corvette catalogs like Eckler's, Mid-America, Corvette America, and Corvette Central. If you have the complete seats and not just the frames, you should be able to pretty easily identify them just using these catalog pictures.

Minor correction, Reba. The 67 seats did have a latching mechanism for the back. TBarr #24014
