Cleaning new Coker Goodyear 6.70 15's

I just mounted my new Coker tires today and have totally exhausted everything I have in the garage trying to get the chalky mold release off of them. It seems I've read topics on this before but couldn't remember the best solution. I've tried cleaners, Westley's, wire brush, steel wool, laquer thinner, alcohol, you name it. They look the same. Just a chalky white film that won't budge. Any suggestions ??

I used a heat gun on a new set a of 7.75 x 15 for my 66. Works great

Tom,

I use 3M weather strip adhesive remover and an old cottom towel torn up into about 6" x 6" squares. Pour a liberal amount of the 3M adhesive remover on the rag, wipes the mold release agent right off and won't harm any painted surfaces. Change the rags out often for best results. I usually can find the 3M weather strip adhesive remover at NAPA.

If all of the above fails -- call coker--they will know or??? I had more trouble with the gum they put the sticker on with.

Tom, After you do get your tires clean you will notice when the car sits the white stuff grows back. If you rub it with your finger it comes off. The old Lucas repros used to do that many years ago. I remember taking my 63 to a show and before the show was over the tires were the waxy crap on them again. We spent more time on the tires than the rest of the car. I used zippo lighter fluid and scotch brite. The new rubber hose we use on the fuel injections has this white crap on it. I use lighter fluid or thinner to remove it. Quite annoying for sure. I was told if you a person would drive his car the heat would keep the rubber from turning white. John
