Correct Blk. Paint for Engine Components C2

I'm doing a '63 Engine rebuild and detailing engine compartment at the same time. What is the correct black paint for pulleys and other black components on engine. Flat? Semi-gloss?
Also what is correct paint for engine compartment side of fender wells?

      Bob,

I recently repainted the upper and lower pulleys and splash shields on my '65. I found that the John Deere medium gloss black looks better than the John Deere Blitz Black and the krylon semi-flat.

Per page 105 of the 63/64 Judging Guide (fourth edition), the firewall, inner fenders skirts and splash shields have a black, low sheen, semi-gloss finish.

The John Deere medium gloss black would be my pick for parts that are to be painted semi-gloss in color per the judging manual. This paint can be bought in the rattle cans and quart & gallon cans for spraying through a paint gun.

Buy the three paints described above and do a comparison, you'll see what I mean.

      Regards,
