the judging manual says to deduct appropriate points for the casting flaw through the "O" in "CORVETTE". others advertise the casting flaw as appropriate for ncrs judging. which is correct for 1959? flaw or no flaw on staggered bolt covers?

The casting flaw started mid 66, as Dennis said, none in 59.

The change from staggered to straight across bolt holes occured during the 59 model year. Neither style had the flaw.

i had some nos staggered 7 fin high script covers that were bought over the chevy counter in the early 70's--they were still in the GM box and the postmark indicated early 70's. they too lacked any casting flaws common to the mid-66 up non-staggered covers. i suspect the staggered and non-staggered covers were cast in seperate molds, not the original non-staggered molds modified for the staggered bolt pattern. just a guess. mike

James, Of all the Corvettte aluminum script valve covers by far yours are the easiest and the cheapest to find. All over the flea markets and quite often NOS. John
