    C2 4-Sp Console Pattern Plate, Original Finish?

    Another posting about the same part, however still need some thoughts.
    Plan to follow past advice and use original instead of NOS or repro.

    C2, original 4sp console pattern plate appears to have a thin film of clear over it.
    Anyone know what the stuff is?
    More important is there a way to clean and restore the plate?
    Thanks for any ideas – even if it's - Do not do!
