66 rear spring?

    66 rear spring?

    I'm working on the rear spring of the 66 that I am doing. bought new cushings and all that and have it a part fixin to paint. I know that the spring is supposed to be gray but how about the two straps. gray or black which is correct? Thanks, Paintbug

      There are no straps used.

          Robert,

          Except for 1 year around 1980, no GM spring used such restraining straps. Sounds like you have a repro.

              Only reproduction springs have the straps, and they're only to keep the spring aligned during shipping; they're supposed to be removed after installation.
