    Fake 65 FI on ebay

It's amazing what you can learn on the internet! Ebay auction 130106914645 is for an alleged original 65 FI. The fender badging raised immediate doubts. Trim tag doesn't match the current car's paint or interior. Power steering and brakes obviously added later among many other problems. I searched the VIN on the Internet and sure enough, there is a previous listing for it! Amazing how this "cobbled up" car suddenly became all original when it changed hands!

The ad stated that the engine was not original; however, the VIN is stamped on the block.

Yes, but it must a restamp. Seller disclosed it was not the original motor. Casting date of March is awfully early for a June car. Not impossible, but not likely. The badging indicates it was not an original FI as well.
