'66 lower ball joint to a-arm nut&lock washer

What was the original finish of the large nut & lock washer that attaches the lower ball joint to the a-arm(not the spindle). I can't find reference to this in the JM.

    Rob-----

The GM specs for the washer, GM #103329, and the nut, GM #103028, called for a "plain" finish. Were the parts used on a 1966 actually so-finished? Well, I can tell you that the exact same part numbers were used for 1969 and the original washer and nut on my 1969 were "plain" finish.

By the way, a "plain" finish does not necessarily mean a "shiny, bright metal" finish. Some folks think so, but that's not how it was. "Plain" just means that no finishing process was specified, so the parts were as-manufactured.
