Re: F41 Rear Shock Date code

Well same o! Getting bogged down with the job. Just too busy. Was working on my tiger the last weekend only getting calls left and right from customers(getting distracted) and I put a jack at the sub frame to lift up the front end a bit to put my down draft pipes on. The car is on a quick lift and I pushed the wrong end of the button and the car came down. Forgot about the jack at the sub frame and next thing I hear is banging and a clanking. Looked at the front and the valence is crushed. New paint and a repair job going back to painter. Another 400.00 to spend, Oh well. If anyone knows what the date is for 5 B 67 is I would appreciate that. Thanks, grant

Re: F41 Rear Shock Date code

Grant, 5 B 67 is in fact the second week of May, 1967. I posted this same question some weeks ago and was contaced by an NCRS and bloomington judge who told me this would be documented in the upcoming tech manuals. You will never see the first number of the date go beyond 12, or the letter go beyond E. Also, Febrary 5, 1967 fell on a Sunday and that would be incorrect. Don

Re: Don whats used for the sixth week ?

Phil, I don't see where a sixth week would be needed? I looked at the 67 Calander and could only find months with 5 weeks. If the last day of a month falls on a monday, that is still considered to be the last week in that month and not the first week of the next month. I have a pair of shocks dated 1 E 67 ( 5th week of January, 67 ). January 30th and 31st fell on a Monday and Tuesday in 1967. I suppose if there were a month in another year that did have 6 weeks than they would use the letter F. The shocks were dated in this format until the first of January, 1969 when the assembly line F41 rear went from the 489 to the 607. I have seen the front F41 shocks using both the julian date code and the month/week/year code. Don.
