    Switzer FAN CLUTCH Article

I read the article in the DRIVELINE concerning the refilling of a SWITZER FAN CLUTCH. Great article!!!

Now I'm trying to refill a clutch and was wondering what volume of oil is recommended by the manufacturer. The article stated that the tolerance was 4ml, but neglected to state the fill volume. Can I assume that the tolerance might be within 10% so the fill volume might be 40ml????

The total fill volume is a pretty closely held secret as far as I can tell. Plus you have know ides how much is in it. The tolerance is 4 ml, thats why they tell you use that much on each try. Please remember the the spin count after warm up is not really a very good check of the fill. I would check it by checking the rpm difference between the water pump shaft and the fan when the engine is running and hot. Use one of those laser tachometers. Good luck.

Putting in 4ml at a time and then trying it is very time consuming. Thought I might be able to minimize the effort. I believe mine was fairly empty when I started as I let it "drain" thru the fill hole for a day or so..... Got some out but couldn't tell the quantity.

      Thanks for the response.....
